Opposition to Public Executions

On October 10, the NEBCD membership unanimously passed a resolution opposing the public execution of anyone.

This is a statement of basic principle. A society’s commitment to human dignity is measured by how it treats every person, including those it condemns. Turning a death into a public spectacle degrades all of us and moves us further from justice, not closer to it.

We’re proud that our members spoke with one voice on this question, and we’ll keep standing up for these values.
